Every Monday night at The Listening Room in Nashville, Song Suffragettes showcases some of the best up and coming female songwriters in town. Just by reading the above letter, you can tell their mission is a great one – they recognize it’s a hard time for girls in country and they want to do something about it! I haven’t had a chance to check them out yet, but if you’re in Nashville be sure to stop by on a Monday.
Though just a one time event, I was very impressed by the Girls of Summer show held at Music City Tippler last month. The lineup was long, but every artist had earned their place – with notable names Nicolle Galyon and Heather Morgan closing the show, both having had multiple hits this past year.
I’m happy to see Nashville is starting to recognize that supporting each other is the best way to go about combating the unbalanced country music industry.
