Five Favorites From YouTube

There are countless talented (and many other not so talented) artists posting music videos to YouTube everyday.  While most videos are covers of current hit songs, most musicians also try to take their popularity to the next level with original songs.  Here are five of our all time favorite female YouTube stars and our favorite videos:

1) Kina Grannis
The simplicity in Kina Grannis’s covers are always a favorite to listen to since they focus on her voice and acoustic instrumentation. Check out one of her latest originals and some more covers on her channel.  (side note – her vlogs are always sweet and her style is amazing)

2) Birdy
Well, this may be cheating by mentioning Birdy, but she technically got her start on YouTube by posting her acclaimed cover of Skinny Love by Bon Iver.  The video earned her international attention, and since then some of her most notable videos include The National cover Terrible Love and her own originals. If you ever get the chance to see her live, I highly suggest you do it!

3) Julia Sheer
A friend of fellow YouTuber Tyler Ward, Julia got her start posting covers with her Colorado neighbor.  Though the two eventually went separate ways, she moved to Nashville and has since made some country covers, but will always be a favorite.

4) Katy McCallister
Yet another artist that was first associated with Tyler Ward, Katy’s real talent lies with her original songs accompanied by her incredible piano skills.  Above is one of her best originals, and even though it’s from 3 years ago I still listen to it!

5) Megan & Liz
The Michigan native twins got their start on YouTube by posting covers of Taylor Swift and Demi Lovato.  They’ve ventured into the pop world with hits like “Bad For Me” and “Release You,” but now are focusing more on country as they’re living in Nashville.
